Day four of injections…

  
Day four of injections are done and dusted. Tomorrow I also start a morning injection of Orgalutran as well. This shot is the scary one I think, the needle is thicker and I’ve heard it stings a little more, but once I get day 1 over with the rest of the days should be a breeze. Over the last few days I’ve been putting a little bandaid on my injection site every night and in the morning Zach will come up to me and lift my shirt up and say ‘sore mummy, I kiss‘ then gives me a soft little kiss on the bandaid – it is the sweetest thing!! Man I just love that kid. 

Tomorrow I have my first lot of bloods done and my monitoring ultrasound to check to see how I’m responding to the medications and if doses need adjusting etc. I’m really excited to see how things are moving along. It’s mind blowing to think we could potentially be having our egg retrial a little over a week from today! So much excitement in the coming week…
21 day fertility diet:

Breakfast:

A fertility smoothie with banana, mango and strawberries. Also added maca powder and a super greens supplement powder.  

 

Snacks: 

Bliss balls. Just finished this batch off today and made a new batch. This time I added salted caramel protein powder, the flavours work pretty well together. 
  
 

Lunch:

I made us some chicken and salad burgers. Packed with avocado, carrot, spinach and tomatoes, all on a yummy wholemeal 4 grain bun. With a huge glass of lemon water. 

 
 

Dinner:

Dinner was naughty. Zach was feeling unwell this afternoon and has a tummy bug I’m pretty sure. He has done a fair few runny poops and has a little temp so he had an early shower and was passed out by 6:30pm. We ended up ordering pizza. It was pretty yummy. No regrets lol. 

 

Wish me luck with my new injection tomorrow, I’m secretly crapping my hands a little about it haha.

Not so happy saturday…?

Happy Saturday! The weekend is here…

So this morning started out great. Having a great time with Zach, playing and eating breakfast and then BAM just like that I was in a shitty grumpy hormonal mood. It just came out of nowhere. As soon as Jason got home from work, I was just shitty. Everything he did made me wanna scream…Taking my mood swings out on Jason is horrible and I felt so bad once I had calmed down. Has anyone else had mood swings from taking Puregon? I did some research and couldn’t really find much on mood swings as a side effect, maybe just mild ones at the worst. But this was pretty bad. I didn’t like it. 3 days down, 6 more to go (if all goes to plan!) Other than that little hiccup at the start of our day the rest went on to be quite enjoyable. We went to visit some kangaroos and crocodiles at a local animal sanctuary. Then Zach’s cousins visited and had a afternoon play at our place. Staying positive and trying to not let the mood swings take over…

21 Day Fertility Diet:

Breakfast:

Apple and cinnamon oats with strawberries, big glass of water and my daily vitamins.

Egg and lettuce sandwich from the animal sanctuary while we were out and about. (no picture) and a smoothie!

Taking time off…

So I have the next 3 weeks off work. I’m so happy I won’t have to stress about fitting in multiple blood tests and ultrasounds into a working week and then egg retrieval and possible fresh transfer. I knew I wanted a few days off over the egg retrieval date just to help relax and rest up afterwards. So I’m glad I was able to get the time off. Now I can concentrate and focus 100% on our IVF journey. Plus more park trips, beach days and fun with Zach during the week! Oh and a few little projects I want to complete around the house. I’ve already deep cleaned and rearranged the kitchen. Yay!!!

Now my 21 day fertility diet has kind of gone out the window the last few days, but I’m picking it back up again and swinging into gear! Now is the most important time to be getting all those good fats and nutrients into my body. Back to drinking tons of water and cutting out caffeine. Lots of salads, lean meats and my fave – AVOCADO!!!

 

Tonight was my 2nd night of 150iu Puregon injection, it went smoothly. I’m surprised how at ease I am with jabbing myself with a needle haha. Tonight’s did sting a little more than yesterday’s – but I think I just injected it a little faster than last nights as well.

 

Our IVF Journey Has Begun…

 

  Tuesday evening we had our ‘IVF Beginners’ class with our fertility nurse and a few other couples – it was an interesting night. It went over all the up coming events during our IVF cycle, step by step, what could potentially go wrong, the chances of a cancelled cycle, Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome etc. We then had our one on one meeting with our nurse yesterday afternoon to go over my planner and have our injection lessons. It all went smoothly and I feel pretty confident with the upcoming injections.

 

  Today was officially day one of shots. I am on Puregon 150 every evening at 7:30pm (will continue until the 16th depending on blood test results etc) and this coming Monday I also start a morning shot of Orgalutran 250mcg at 8:30am for about 6 days. So today’s first shot went well. I felt relaxed and ready. I think doing the ovidrel trigger shot during our IUI cycle in June has put my needle nerves at ease. I’m actually excited about them…if it’s what gets us a baby, hell give me 10 needles a day! On Monday I also have my first blood test and monitoring ultrasound. Come on body, do your thing and grow us lots of beautiful follicles.

   

  I also learnt that we will be doing a ICSI IVF, ICSI is where they take a single sperm and inject it into the egg vs ‘standard’ IVF where they place 20,000 sperm in with a egg and let nature do what it does. ICSI is the only option for frozen sperm as once it has been frozen the mobility isn’t as great as fresh sperm.

Cacao Bliss Ball Recipe…

Cacao Bliss Balls

  

Ingredients:

1.5 cup medjool dates

1 cup almonds (I use raw natural almonds)

1/2 cup cashews 

1/3 cup coconut oil

1/3 cup cacao powder

1.5 tablespoons of chia seeds

2 tablespoons of maca powder (optional)

1/2 cup shredded coconut 

Directions: 

Throw all the ingredients into your food processor and blend. Once it is all combined roll into balls. Roll the balls into some extra shredded coconut if you desire. Let them harden in the fridge for about an hour and then enjoy! They can be stored in an air tight container for a week in the fridge. Recipe will make about 12-15 Bliss Balls.

  

  

Fertility Diet: Day 7…

 

  Day #7

Breakfast 

This morning we went to the beach for a play and sandcastle building. Zach had a blast, he loves the beach. Until he gets sand in his pants and wants to run around in the nude haha. So I just whipped up a quick fertility smoothie for breakfast this morning. It was packed with fresh strawberries, banana, almond milk and maca powder! Refreshing.   

Lunch

Today we picked up sushi from our favourite place ‘sushi sushi’  haven’t had sushi in a while so it was a nice treat. 

  Dinner 

Tonight I made poached chicken with maple roasted pumpkin and feta salad. Amazing! Maple roasted pumpkin has changed my life haha. So yummy.   

  Snacks

Today I baked some yummy heathy 100% clean banana and walnut mini loaves – they are so moist. Trying to stop Jason from eating them all tonight haha. Zach enjoyed one as an afternoon snack as well. Also made another batch of Cacao Bliss Balls for snacks through out the week.

Fertility Diet: Day 5…

 Day #5

Breakfast

Overnight oats to the rescue! Strawberries, mixed berries, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, oats, maple syrup & a little stevia for sweetness. Super filling and super yum!!!

 

  Lunch

Chicken and salad wrap for lunch today, always an easy little lunch to throw together. Packed with spinach, corn, beetroot and feta.

   

  Dinner

Yummmmmy!!! This was so good. I made quinoa crusted chicken breast with oven baked sweet potato fries, salad & whipped avocado! It was amazing. The chicken turned out so good. Can’t wait to make it again.

 

  Snacks

Had another ‘the counter bar‘ snack bar this morning for my mid morning snack, this flavour is my absolute favourite! Feels like I’m eating a naughty chocolate bar but it has a ton of protein and less than 2g of sugar. Also had my fertility smoothie, which I drank out of my new pineapple mason jar…haha I love it. Thank you Target! I think for dessert I’ll have a couple of my Caca Bliss Balls as well.

 

     

  

Thanks for checking out my food journal – feeling really good and on track at the moment. I did have a diet coke in my lunch break at work today, but mainly because the water fountain was broken and I was dying for a drink! I am a diet coke/Pepsi max addict so I’m cutting WAY back. This was my first one in 5 days so I’m pleased, I use to have 1 a day. So so so bad. But once and again it’s a nice treat. Until tomorrow…
